The Hot One meets The Cold War...
This National Geographic ad shows the 1955 Bel Air in front of a North American F-100 Super Sabre, which saw service in the US Air Force between 1954 and 1979. Too late for the Korean War, the Super Sabre saw action in Viet Nam, with NATO, and with the National Guard. It also served with the Air Force Thunderbirds stunt team. In the above ad, this plane would have been a new face to the public - as would the `55 Chevy.
I'm somehow not convinced that a bunch of Fifties Fighter Jocks would be falling over themselves to get a close look at a four door sedan. They're convertible or hardtop material, at minimum, maybe a Corvette.
