French website Koreus.com today posted a video shot by the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, with the goal of showing how far vehicle safety has come in 50 years. My initial reaction was that a big steel boat like a `59 Chevy would be the safe bet, but then I had a nagging suspicion that they wouldn't be shooting a video if there weren't advancements. Once I got past the sickening site of a two-tone Bel-Air sedan being obliterated before my eyes, I was stunned with the results. Game point to the 2009 Malibu.
